The total number of educational institutions, which are into teaching, if we start counting globally, would pass away into huge numbers and counting and it would definitely be very difficult to assess the right university to get admission into. However below are presented the 10 best universities of the world which are awarded place into top 10 lists after considering over a good number of factors.

Harvard University:  Founded in year 1636, it has nearly 2,100 faculty members and more than 10,000 academic appointments in affiliated teaching hospitals.  Including within college campus and graduate and professional college students, it has nearly 20,000 students. Harvard University is consisted of 11 principal units including ten faculties and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Studies.

University of Cambridge: The University founded in 1209, provides the world’s highest quality university education for the brightest and the best students,   irrespective, of their background. One can study at the Cambridge University in variety of ways. He can either joins in undergraduate studies, graduate studies and lifelong learning.

Yale University: It is consisted of three major academic sections including Yale College, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and the professional schools. Its campus also has other wide array of centers and programs, libraries, museums and administrative support offices. Nearly, 11,250 students have joined Yale. The history of Yale, date it back to 1640 when colonial clergymen collectively decide to fond a college to save up European culture.

Nearly, 21 Nobel Prize Winners have come from this University.  The University was founded in 1826 and open up English higher education for people of all strata and educational backgrounds. It caters to the problems in global health, sustainable cities, intercultural understanding and human wellbeing.

University of Oxford: It is considered as the first University in English speaking world. It has students from more than a hundred and forty countries to make up student population of over twenty thousand. And one third of its students are not from United States. Among its 20,000 students 11,734 are in undergraduate courses and 8,101 in postgraduate courses.

Imperial College of London:  Founded in 1907, the college has 13,019 full time students from 150 countries that are taught in 238 courses.  It is a science based college with reputation for teaching and research in departments of Engineering, Medicine and Natural Sciences.

University of Chicago: It is located at Hyde Park on Chicago’s South Side merely 15 minutes away from the city center. The university was founded in 1890. It is consisted of College of the University of Chicago, graduate schools and interdisciplinary committees organized into four divisions, six professional schools, and a school of continuing education. It enrolls 5,000 students in the College and 14,000 students overall.

Princeton University: It was founded in 1746 at Elizabeth, New Jersey and is one of the Colonial Colleges and moved to Princeton in 1756 and renamed Princeton in 1896.  It has 2,500 colleges under its role.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology:  It is a private research university situated in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It has five schools and one college, consisting total 32 academic departments with special focus on scientific and technological research.   It was founded by William Barton Rogers in 1961 in response to the increasing industrialization of the United States and expanded to 168 acres. It has 4,232 undergraduate schools and 6,152 graduate schools and employs nearly 1,009 faculty members.

California Institute of Technology: It is a private research university located at Pasadena, California, United States.   The university was founded by a local businessman in 1891 and politician Amos G. Throop. It has total 2100 students about 900 undergraduates and 1200 graduate students.

The online university rankings is done systematically by the Online Education Database which provides guides on online colleges, distance learning programs and more so on continuing education based on several criteria    commonly called metrics. There are eight defined metrics of which include: peer web citations, the retention rate, acceptance rate, availability of financial aid, graduation rate, scholarly citations, number of years accredited and lastly the student to faculty ratio. Moreover, online ranking is being done to ensure that only legitimate online degrees are offered by accredited learning institutions and are offered in a transparent manner. According to this year’s Online Education Database, whose main functionality is that it keeps a database of online accredited degree programs, the top seven ranking colleges include:

Nova Southeastern University
Having a score of 9.213 metrics, it tops the list. It is the 10th largest independent university in the US and has been known for pioneering non traditional approaches to good quality education. It is also included in the review by Princeton as the college with the best distance learning graduate schools. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southeastern Colleges and Schools.


Regent  University
With a score of 11.663 metrics this is a Christian online university that offers an academic curriculum based on strong biblical principle and morals. It is also accredited by the Commission on College of the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Schools in awarding associates, masters, doctorate and baccalaureates.

Champlain College
With a score of 13.290 metrics, this is college which is about 126 years old and has been offering online degree programs for almost 10 years and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Upper Iowa University
With a score of 13.479 metrics, it is similar in many ways to its counterpart Nova Southeastern University. It is known for its delivery of high and accredited quality education and boasts of a very cosmopolitan student population; offering both traditional and nontraditional types of education. It is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Higher Commission on Learning.

Letourneu University
With a score of 14.001 metrics this is another Christian online university based on Christian integrity in academics and technological innovation and is accredited by the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Schools and Commission on Colleges.

Liberty University
With a score of 14.195 metrics this is the world’s largest evangelical university and works to give it students education focused on Christ and is known as a ground for training champions for Christ .It is accredited by the Southeastern Association of Colleges and Schools and Commission on Colleges and offers masters, associates, bachelors and doctorate degrees.

Grand Canyon University
With a score of 15.502 metrics Grand Canyon is also a Christian community based university that focuses on students from diverse backgrounds. It is accredited by Higher Learning Commission which is a member of North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
